Black Psychology Graduate Student Association
The Black Psychology Graduate Student Association (BPGSA)
was established because of the USC psychology program's longstanding
history of admitting and graduating African American students (often in an
effort to reflect the diversity of the state of South Carolina). The BPGSA
has been an additional support mechanism through which students have the
opportunity to establish strong relationships with African American
mentors within the professional community across many disciplines (e.g.,
psychology, education, social work, etc.). For nearly 20 years, the BPGSA
has sponsored or co-sponsored the annual Multicultural Symposium, which has traditionally been a day-long event in which
nationally-renowned speakers have discussed issues relevant to the African
American community.
